Pattison, TX – Monument sign for Church with New Vinyl & Graphics
It’a not always necessary to replace something that is old and worn. If it still has good bones, you may give it a refresh or refurbish. This is exactly what we did for Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pattison, TX. Their monument sign was well over 20 years old and really needed an update. See how we saved the church a ton of money by offering new vinyl & graphics instead of replacing the entire sign.
Evaluating the Sign
Before we begin any job, we evaluate what the client wants to accomplish, their budget, and how we can offer the best material that is also cost effective. Upon our site survey, we observed that the sign was very rusted, the vinyl was faded, scratched and torn. Even though on the surface, the sign seemed in poor shape, it had structural integrity. We offered an option to re-face with new graphics and Metal composite material or (ACM). The client was thrilled with this option so we moved on to the design phase.
Sign Design
The client was very particular about the type of design he preferred. He had a strategy session with our in house graphic designer and they came up with a plan. After a couple revisions, we had the design approved to print.
Sign Fabrication
Next step is to fabricate. We used 4 sheets of 4×8 ACM for the 8×8 sign face, 3M 40C gloss vinyl with matching 3M 8508 gloss laminate. We chose these materials for longevity and keeping that vibrant print looking great year after year! In addition to the main sign face, there were also 2 sets of graphic and ACM on both sides of the main sign. To take care of the rusted portions that would not be covered by new materials, we sanded and painted with a vibrant red color chosen by the client. Then we duplicated everything for the second side.
Installation
Before installing, we had to ensure the existing face and metal would be prepped and ready for the new materials. We took a day to sand and paint. After 2 -3 coats of primed paint plus protective coating, we allowed a day for the paint to dry before installing. We used self tapping screws to adhere the new metal sheets and side panels to each side. Then we duplicated the process for the 2nd side.
