We have a wonderful partnership with Fresh Cafe Designs of Richmond, TX. They create fresh designs for school cafeterias transforming them into beautiful innovative spaces. Here is one of our latest projects we collaborated on for Marine Creek Elementary.
The scope of this project was a large one. Along with our client, we provided all types of signage, painting and digital wall graphics to round out this complete makeover for the cafeteria serving line and seating hall. For this article, we will concentrate on the serving line.
Here are some of the types of materials we used for this area:
- PVC cut letters
- PVC cut geometric shapes and designs
- ACM (Aluminum Composite Material) panels
- Frosted acrylic
- 1st and 2nd surface digital graphics with matte laminate
Our choices for the material were methodically calculated for cost, weight, ability to accept vinyl and paint, and ease of installation. Based on these parameters, 1/8″ white PVC, 3mm ACM and 1/4″ clear acrylic were our substrates of choice.
We used HP GP vinyl with HP polymeric matte laminate for all the digital prints. We used Arlon DPF 5200 for the etched/frosted vinyl on one side of the acrylic then applied the digital print to the other side for a soft layered look. Each PVC letter or element was route cut. We then plotted each letter and shape on our Graphtec, weeded out the extra material around it and hand cut each letter before applying to the PVC. A labor intensive process, but well worth the end result.
When a client brings an idea to us, there can sometimes be lots of tweaking to get the end result. We are always available to troubleshoot, evaluate and offer solutions that will fit our clients budget and needs. Ideas and job scope can also change after the project is underway so we have to be flexible and quickly update jobs with accuracy. Our quality control system is in place to ensure the job is progressing on time and correctly.
